The recently released findings of the 2009 Nielsen Media Survey revealed that Singapore’s mainstream newspapers have continued to thrive in the past year despite the overall global decline in newspaper readership. The survey found that 3 in 4 Singaporeans continue to read local newspapers. The Internet’s increasing pervasiveness among Singaporeans was not missed by the survey, as the findings showed that readership of online versions of newspapers rose by more than 2 percent in the past year.
