PAP harnesses new media at convention

For the first time, the People’s Action Party (PAP) has employed the use of new media on a large scale. This includes the party’s first political videos since the ban on such films was lifted. There were instant updates on the PAP website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter. It is part of a broader effort to update and refresh the party image and reach out to the wider public.

The Films Act

The Films Act was modified this March, partially lifting a decade-long ban on political films. The first political film to be allowed under the new rules is Martyn See’s ‘Singapore Rebel’, a documentary on Chee Soon Juan.
