Straits Times editor defends AWARE coverage; challenges MP to justify allegations

June 1st, 2009

Straits Times editor Han Fook Kwang has responded to critics of the paper’s handling of the AWARE saga. He said that the occasionally one-sided reporting was due to the insurgent faction’s resolute refusal to give its side of the story. Han also challenged MP Sin Boon Ann to justify his innuendo that ST favoured some religions over others: “He ought to know better than to use the religion card in this fashion.”
